What the standard means for your inspection.

The InterNACHI Standards of Practice describe a visual, non-invasive examination of readily accessible residential systems and components. The inspection reflects observable conditions at the time of the appointment; it is not technically exhaustive and does not predict future performance.

01

Systems and structure

Accessible structural components, foundation areas, roofing, exterior elements, attic spaces, insulation and ventilation.

02

Installed systems

Accessible electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling components operated with normal controls when conditions permit.

03

Clear reporting

Observed material concerns are documented in a written report with relevant context and recommendations.

04

Defined limitations

Concealed conditions, destructive testing, engineering analysis, code compliance and future service life are outside a general inspection’s scope.

This overview is educational and does not replace the complete standard or your signed inspection agreement.
